Edited by: Kaylee Juuna on 30/09/2009 04:01:22 How's this Hawk fitting for level 2 and maybe level 3 mission running in high sec? It's based entirely on what I already have and what I can use, except for the Ballistic Control and Co-Processor which I don't have yet. 5 CPU and 1 Power Grid left over. Co-Processor I Ballistic Control System I
Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II 1MN Afterburner II Gistii C-Type Small Shield Booster

The missile charges will change based on the enemies in mission. What do I need to change to make it 'better'?
Also, I don't completely understand the difference between active and passive shield tanks. My knowledge is that passive shield tanks increase the HP and recharge rate of the shield and that's it, whereas actives increase the resistances and use shield boosters. Am I correct or completely off-track?

I'm not expecting a huge amount of difficulty with level 2 missions (I've done them in a terribly fit Merlin, months ago). So, for now just train skills?

Originally by: Merin Ryskin Get a Drake instead (fit assault launchers). More dps, more tank, cheaper price. The Hawk is just a laughably bad ship and should never be used for anything.
That's funny, I've been hearing that the Hawk is a pretty good ship for mission running. That's all I'm doing, and training for a Drake is going to take quite a bit more time.

Most of you think the Hawk is bad. Why?

Perhaps because it gets outdone by pretty much everything including tech 1 frigates?
I was hoping for an answer other than 'it's not as good as x'. I'm asking what makes it worse?

Horrible PG and worse CPU. Slow, fat sig. Less DPS than a Kestrel. Rockets doing crappy base damage that is far too easily mitigated. Standard Launchers being bastards to fit and doing unremarkable damage.
Well, those could make for a crappy ship . I guess I'll be using a Harpy.

That's the main reason why I wanted to use, and was recommended, the Hawk. Are the specific damage types worth the downfalls?
